ARCHITECTS, GENERAL CONTRACTORS, & OWNERS
The Bumperite Waterguards sealable scaffold attachment system provides protection against water intrusion within the exterior plaster wall as compared to old conventional methods using wire and bumper components to secure scaffold. The conventional method is not exposed as a water intrusion concern to the Architect in the design of cement plaster exteriors. The Bumperite Waterguards system attaches to the exterior structural frame and is designed to prevent water intrusion. This attachment to the building can be sealed as part of its assembly.
The conventional wire and bumper approach is a high-risk concern. The scaffold wire remains in the cement plaster after the scaffold is removed. This wire, after being cut, is typically pushed back past the surface of the plaster, and becomes unsealed during the scaffold tie patching process causing the risk of water damage.
The Bumperite Waterguards system has been tested at Smith-Emery Laboratories, Inc. per ASTM E331-00 as a water-resistant system and ensures a superior level of protection against water intrusion. This means and method approach should be standard to mitigate water damage issues and provide for their clients a better design for success.
